The last barbecue

As we sat out last night, enjoying another bite of summer while the coals glowed on the barbecue I wondered if this was the last.

Are weather patterns changing or is it coincidence that the last few summers have arrived with the madness of March hares, leaving July a washed out season full of autumn chill and late winter rain?

Is it a coincidence that the last few winters have come early, with November snows and a biting chill that turned the roads to skating rinks?

Do we need to get used to dusting down the barbecue in March and putting it away for the winter at the end of June?

And did I really enjoy the last barbecue of the season or is there hope for burgers and beans yet to come?
