Whitby abbey in infra-red

I was hoping to get some time in the darkroom but  things have got a little busy lately. So here’s a scan taken in Whitby.  I had to climb a drystone wall and perch my tripod on the top as the Abbey was shut for the season.  Let me tell you that taking an infra-red shot with one foot on a perched on a precarious foothold in a drystone wall, trying to reach up high enough to compose, calculate the exposure and focus the shot is no easy task.

Whitby Abbey

I’m re-reading Dracula at the moment. Parts of the book are set in Whitby, inspired by a true tale of a ghost ship that came into port while Bram Stoker was there. He rented rooms overlooking the bay with the ruined abbey crowning the hill opposite.  It’s the kind of wild place where imagination can run riot. The book is wonderfully scary but isn’t helping me in the sweet dreams department.
